Brickell

Brickell is an upscale urban neighborhood in Miami. Along with Downtown, Brickell is Miami and South Florida’s major financial district. Brickell is also a dense, high-rise residential neighborhood with many upscale, luxury condominium and apartment towers. Referred to as the “Manhattan of the South,” Brickell is home to the largest concentration of international banks in the United States, mostly along Brickell Avenue, home to many popular Miami restaurants, shops and places of entertainment. A few hundred feet east of the northeastern side of Brickell is Brickell Key, a gated island of upscale, high-rise residential and hotel towers. As of 2009, over 190,000 office employees work in Downtown and Brickell. Today, the Brickell and Downtown Miami neighborhoods are the fastest-growing neighborhoods in Miami, growing from 40,000 residents in 2000 to over 70,000 in 2009. This growth has in large part been due to the demand from young professionals whom now have access to Miami Condos in the area, due to the bargain consequences of the current real estate market situation. Brickell is a fast paced neighborhood, which has grown into a huge hotspot and continues to expand as the area develops.
